For families with younger children:
Our spacious grounds are safe and traffic-free – perfect for little adventurers who want to explore the camp on their own. There is plenty of space to play. While the kids are out and about, parents finally have time to take a deep breath.

For single parents:
Parents traveling alone feel especially well taken care of here. The open camp atmosphere, other families and the warm-hearted community make it easy to connect and enjoy time together. And while the children are happily occupied, there is also room for parents to relax and recharge.

For teenagers:
Teenagers get to know each other during surf lessons and quickly form new friendships around the camp. Afterwards, there’s table football, table tennis or darts, cooking together or chilling by the campfire. Teens are fully integrated, allowing parents to turn in early or enjoy some time to themselves.

Childcare (optional):
On request, we offer childcare for an additional fee – ideal if parents want to go on an excursion, plan an extra surf session or simply take a break.

Shared cooking & play evenings for children:
Once a week, we invite all children in the camp to take part in a shared cooking and play evening. On this night, the kids spend time together, cook, play, laugh and simply enjoy a great evening as a group. Meanwhile, parents intentionally have time to themselves: to enjoy a relaxed dinner, take a walk, visit the bar or simply spend a quiet evening on their own. The cooking & play evening is open to all children in the camp and costs €20 per child.

Family-friendly prices & flexible surf packages
In terms of pricing, we try to support families as much as possible. We do not charge anything for babies up to two years of age. Baby cots are provided free of charge, and for children up to 12 years old who sleep in an extra bed in their parents’ room, we only charge half price. We offer surf lessons for children from around the age of five, provided they can swim reasonably well and feel comfortable in the water. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer discounts for children on surf lessons. For parents with young children who have the same surfing level, we offer the option to share a surf course, so that one parent can always stay with the child while the other is in the water.

Many families return year after year – often because the kids insist. Over time, friendships have formed that reunite here every summer. Kids welcome – and truly from the heart.

Frequently Asked Questions – Families & Children (FAQ)

From what age can children participate in the surf course?

There is no fixed minimum age. The most important requirement is that your child can swim and feels reasonably comfortable in the water. In practice, this is usually the case from around the age of 5.

Can we surf together as a family in one group?

Yes, this is generally possible. If all family members have the same surfing level and you are no more than 6 people, we are happy to organize a shared group for you. Please simply mention this request when booking.

Will we surf at the same beach as a family even if we have different skill levels?

We cannot always guarantee this, as it strongly depends on the current wave and weather conditions. If conditions allow, however, we do our best to schedule families at the same beach.

Can our children go pony riding with you?

We do not offer riding on our own ponies, as they are not used for riding activities. Nearby (approx. 7 minutes by car) you will find the riding stable “Quinta do Mosteiro”, where trail rides or show jumping are possible.

Do other families with children also book with you?

Yes, definitely. We are a family surf camp, and especially during holiday periods (particularly guests from Germany, Austria and Switzerland), many families with children stay with us.

Does the surf course work even if my child does not speak English?

Yes, it works very well. Children mainly learn to surf by watching, copying and trying things out – language usually plays only a minor role.

Does it make sense for my child to wear a life vest even if they can swim?

This is very individual. A life vest can help, especially if a child still feels unsure in the water. Often it is enough to wear one on the first day of the course. Technically, however, it is not necessary.

What is the supervision ratio during the surf course?

We work with small groups. As a rule, there are a maximum of 6 participants per surf instructor.

Are participants insured during the surf course?

Yes, all participants are insured against accidents during surf lessons.

Do participants receive wetsuits in suitable sizes?

Yes. Every participant receives a properly fitting wetsuit, of course also children. We have wetsuits for children from around 4–5 years of age.

Do we need to bring our own equipment (e.g. neoprene shoes, lycra)?

Wetsuit and surfboard are included. Additional equipment such as neoprene shoes or a neoprene hood must be brought by yourself if needed. These accessories are usually only necessary in winter – however, those who get cold quickly should also bring them in other seasons.

Which time of year is best for families with younger children?

This depends on your personal preferences. Whether it rains more in spring or autumn varies from year to year. Summer is the warmest season with the least rainfall and is therefore particularly popular with families.
